Description

Ancient Chess Set

A scene created using photo scanned chess pieces from the British Museum. This scene was made in Blender and the download provides a zipped folder with the blend file and the background image. The chess texture files are wrapped up in the blend file.

The scene was made only from one angle so to take renders from different angles you will need to move the background image or further develop the scene.

Please note the cheese pieces are downloaded from Sketchfab: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/lewis-chess-set-eddbebab12424c8aa610a21b9b7e19e5

The chess models within this blend file can only be used for non-commercial projects and also please give credit to The British Museum. For more info please see the link above.

“These chess pieces form a remarkable group of iconic objects within the world collection of the British Museum. They were probably made in Trondheim, Norway, about AD 1150-1200. At this period, the Western Isles, where the chess pieces were found, were part of the Kingdom of Norway, not Scotland. It seems likely they were buried for safe keeping on route to be traded in Ireland.” – http://www.britishmuseum.org/about_us/news_and_press/statements/the_lewis_chessmen.aspx
