Description

Fantasy Landscape Height Maps Pack

A pack of 10 landscape height maps at 4k (4096 x 4096). There is also an additional Bonus Height map (called ‘Gentle landscape’) making a total of 11 height maps.

These have been made with a fantasy style in mind, such as something you may see in a High Fantasy game or movie, such as Lord of the Rings. But these were also made to have a wide range of use and many can be used just for landscapes outside of the fantasy genre. For example one of the mountain height maps could just be a wilderness mountain setting in a non fantasy environment.

Pack Technical Details:

Each Landscape Contains the Following:

  • Height Map (PNG)
  • Diffuse Map (PNG)
  • Normal Map (PNG)

For Example See Image below (also contains 2 preview images)

Texture Size: All textures are 4k and non-tiling.

Please note: The provided diffuse textures only work at a far distance from the height map. See example images. So up close and these do get pixelated (this is a common effect of any landscape height map if using one texture). If used in a games engine – a landscape material will be required. (No game engine Landscape Materials are provided in this pack).

Further Info:

These are general purpose landscape height maps and were not created for a specific program.

For an example, please click the link here for a post on how to set up one of these landscape height maps in blender.

Hence they are provided as PNGs which is a commonly accepted format in most 3D modelling and Games Engine software. Initially this was only going to be a pack of 10, but one additional landscape height map was added – ‘Gentle Landscape’.
